PRECISE SEPARATION PROCESSES FOR MAXIMUM MATERIAL RECOVERY
Extraction of valuable fractions such as copper, lithium, cobalt, nickel, manganese, iron/steel, aluminium, plastic from housings
An important part of the mobility transition is to use battery-powered electric cars as the main drive technology in future. By 2030, up to 75% of new car registrations are expected to be e-cars. This development is supported by legislation and EU directives.
The batteries required for this need raw materials that are only available in limited quantities, such as copper, lithium, cobalt and rare earths for the magnets they contain. However, the service life of lithium-ion batteries is also limited and is currently estimated at around 1000 charging cycles. In addition to the charging infrastructure and range, the broad acceptance of electric cars and thus their future prospects also depend on the sustainability of this drive technology. A resource-conserving approach also increasingly relies on the environmentally friendly recycling of lithium-ion batteries and supercaps.
For efficient and innovative battery recycling at TRENNSO-TECHNIK®, the material must be discharged, dismantled, shredded and dried.
